Mark Rutte praised the US-Iran deal to end the war, saying the planned reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would be a “massive step forward”.
– “The restoration of free passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be a massive step forward, and I know that many allies, through the initiative led by France and the United Kingdom, are ready to support,” the NATO secretary-general told a news conference in Brussels.
– Rutte added that the agreement created an opportunity to ensure that Tehran never obtains a nuclear weapon.
– There is no announced agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme, and it will be one of the main topics of the talks between the two countries after the deal is signed in Switzerland on Friday, according to officials from both sides.
