Under a United Nations Security Council resolution, the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has been extended until June 17, 2027.
– The Security Council also outlined UNAMA’s duties and responsibilities.
– According to the resolution, UNAMA will continue its activities in coordinating humanitarian assistance, supporting the fulfillment of Afghans’ basic needs, promoting the rights of women and girls, strengthening inclusive governance, monitoring the country’s economic and social situation, and advancing regional cooperation.
– The Security Council also expressed concern over the humanitarian and economic situation in Afghanistan, as well as restrictions on the rights of women and girls.
