President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, strongly condemned the Israeli attack that targeted a patrol of the Lebanese Army on the Khardali-Nabatieh road this morning, which resulted in the martyrdom of two officers and a soldier who joined the caravan of those who preceded them among the military and civilian martyrs, children, women, ambulance and rescue personnel, and media workers, watering the dear land of the South with their pure blood.

President Aoun considered this attack to constitute a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and of international laws and norms, coming in the context of ongoing escalation that threatens stability and security in the South despite the efforts Lebanon is exerting in the Washington negotiations to put an end to the ongoing Israeli attacks without deterrent.

The President of the Republic extended his deepest condolences to the Army Command and the families of the martyrs, commending the sacrifices of the martyred officers and soldier and all the martyred military personnel who are paying with their blood the price for defending the homeland and its sovereignty, affirming that Lebanon will not tolerate any lapse in protecting its land and people, and that these attacks will not deter it from adhering to its full national rights.

President Aoun called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to these repeated attacks, and to ensure respect for the relevant international resolutions, in a manner that preserves Lebanon’s security and stability.
