It is a pleasure to be back in Belgrade.
In my meetings with Aleksandar Vučić, Ana Brnabic and civil society organisations I emphasised that the EU remains Serbia’s most significant partner – in trade, investment and in strengthening democratic institutions.
We are ready to do more. But the pace of progress depends on Serbia’s own resolve.
It is important to continue to accelerate reforms in areas like rule of law, electoral reform and media freedom.
The accession process is not only a task for the government. It needs the entire mobilisation of the Serbian society.
Time is of the essence. The EU’s door remains open, but the window for decisive action is now.
