President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a telegram from His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, in which he renewed his heartfelt love for Lebanon and its people from all sects, affirming his constant concern for Lebanon and his prayers for its people.

He said: “Let us continue to harness all our energies for the service of peace and the common good,” invoking heavenly blessings upon Lebanon and its people.

The Holy Father’s words came in a reply message he sent to the President of the Republic, in response to the message that President Aoun had sent to him on the occasion of one year since the start of his pontificate after he was elected by the Sacred College as the successor to Pope Francis.

The President of the Republic had emphasized in his message that “Lebanon is today passing through exceptional circumstances of extreme danger. The tensions and conflicts raging in our immediate surroundings, and the profound repercussions they have on our internal stability, expose our nation to unprecedented challenges. In light of these circumstances, the steadfast position of the Apostolic See, its constant closeness, and its repeated interventions on behalf of the Lebanese, bear witness to a solidarity that glorifies our shared history. And Your Holiness’s appeals to halt violence, respect human rights, and protect the most vulnerable groups find deep resonance and gratitude in Lebanon.”
