The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, held a phone call this afternoon with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan, during which he discussed with him the situation in Lebanon and the region in light of the current developments.
During the call, President Aoun expressed Lebanon’s thanks for the solidarity shown by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the directives of the Jordanian monarch, with the Lebanese people, especially through the aid convoys that the Kingdom has sent in succession to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese who have been displaced from their villages and towns as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks.
President Aoun considered the support provided by Jordan to Lebanon in several areas as well to reflect the deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, which both nations are keen to strengthen in all fields.
King Abdullah II thanked President Aoun for his sentiments, reaffirming Jordan’s unwavering stance alongside Lebanon and its people, particularly in the current delicate phase, and its support for the steps Lebanon is taking to achieve security and stability within its borders and to restore its sovereignty over all its territories.
The call also provided an opportunity to assess the ongoing communications aimed at consolidating the ceasefire and finding appropriate solutions in light of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington.
The President of the Republic also congratulated the Jordanian monarch on the advent of the blessed Eid al-Adha, wishing him continued health and well-being, and the fraternal Jordanian people prosperity and progress.
