Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, among other Arab and Islamic officials, condemned the “illegal and unacceptable” step taken by the Somaliland region in opening a purported “embassy” in occupied Jerusalem.
– Saudi Arabia joined Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon and Mauritania in issuing a joint statement addressing the matter.
– The ministers said that the move constituted a “flagrant violation of international law and relevant international resolutions” and represented “a direct infringement on the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem.”
– The statement rejected any unilateral measures aimed at changing the status of Jerusalem and reaffirmed support for international resolutions regarding the occupied city.
– Meanwhile, the ministers emphasized their “full support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Somalia.
