PM Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of the Italian Republic at the iconic Villa Doria Pamphili. PM was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour. This was followed by delegation level talks.

The two leaders reviewed progress in implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29 and agreed to further deepen and enrich bilateral cooperation especially in areas including trade, investments, technology, defence, blue economy, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties among others. They discussed geopolitical developments and agreed to work on global issues of shared interest.

In a significant decision, both sides agreed to elevate India-Italy ties to Special Strategic Partnership.

The two Leaders witnessed exchange of several outcomes which will facilitate cooperation in critical minerals, defence industrial cooperation, security, maritime transport and ports, agriculture and research cooperation, higher education, recruitment of nurses and ayurveda. The wide range of outcomes reflects the growing scope and ambition of India-Italy Strategic Partnership.
