India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has delivered remarks at the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, which Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also attending.
– “We meet at a time of considerable flux in international relations, ongoing conflicts, economic uncertainties,” said Jaishankar in his opening statement.
– He later went on to address the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, saying “safe, unimpeded maritime flows” through the waterway are key to global economic security, according to comments cited by Reuters.
– Jaishankar also spoke of the need for a sustained ceasefire and greater humanitarian access in Gaza.
