A step has been taken to protect the peoples of the world against mass atrocities: genocides, crimes against humanity, and the most serious war crimes.
Today, at the Africa Forward summit in Kenya, eleven new African countries are joining the initiative led by France and Mexico to regulate the veto right at the United Nations Security Council, bringing the total number of supporters to 118 countries.
We can no longer wait to restore the UN’s effectiveness, which must no longer be hindered by the abusive use of the veto right. I invite all countries that have not yet done so to join us!
