Qatar’s PM has spoken about efforts “aimed at achieving peace and enhancing security and stability in the region” in a call with Iran’s FM.
– Sheikh Mohammad “stressed that freedom of navigation is a well-established principle that does not accept compromise, and that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a pressure card would only lead to deepening the crisis and exposing the vital interests of the region’s countries to danger,” a Qatari ministry statement said.
– The statement warned of “potential negative repercussions this could have on global energy and food supplies, as well as on the stability of markets and supply chains”.
