Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met a Hamas delegation headed by Muhammad Darwish, the chairman of the group’s Shura Council, sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry told Anadolu news agency.
– The meeting addressed ongoing efforts to achieve a lasting peace in Gaza, current activities to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip, and other regional developments, the sources added.
– During the meeting, Fidan emphasised that the ongoing war in the region should not cause the Palestinian cause to be forgotten, noting that Turkiye continues to keep the disasters caused by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank on the international community’s agenda.
– Fidan stressed that the increased Israeli presence in Gaza and the prevention of essential humanitarian aid from reaching the Strip are unacceptable. He added that all countries supporting Palestine, especially Islamic countries, must continue to defend the just cause of the Palestinian people, affirming that Turkiye will continue to lead efforts in this direction.
– Fidan also indicated that Turkiye will continue to firmly oppose any steps aimed at forcing the Palestinian people to leave the Gaza Strip.
