The two-way meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong provided space for Malaysia and Singapore to continue strengthening strategic cooperation grounded in shared interests, regional stability, and the prosperity of the people of both countries.
Among the key focuses discussed were accelerating the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), ensuring the RTS Link project can operate by the end of 2026, expanding cooperation on renewable energy and the ASEAN Power Grid, as well as deepening collaboration in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
Malaysia also emphasized the importance of continuing negotiations on maritime boundaries in a constructive manner and based on international law, in addition to ensuring that issues related to water supply, airspace, and the management of the Kuala Lumpur Flight Information Region (KL FIR) are addressed through a spirit of mutual respect and bilateral understanding.
In discussing regional and international developments, Malaysia underscored the importance of a lasting ceasefire in the Middle East, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the need for ASEAN to continue playing a principled role in maintaining stability, security, and the continuity of the global supply chain.
