In connection with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong today to discuss the latest developments in the escalating West Asia conflict that is increasingly squeezing global energy chains and supplies, including in our region.

We welcome the temporary ceasefire involving the United States, Iran, Israel, and Lebanon. I emphasized the urgent need for all parties to support a more comprehensive and lasting resolution.

Malaysia supports the ongoing diplomatic efforts, including Pakistan’s role in opening space for dialogue. At the same time, we affirm the importance of maintaining freedom and security of maritime passages in the Strait of Hormuz, in line with international law.

Touching on energy issues, the discussion focused on efforts to strengthen grid system resilience and address supply-demand balance challenges, including accelerating the implementation of the ASEAN Power Grid as a strategic regional step.

Insya-Allah, through close cooperation and a people-centered approach, we will continue to ensure that Malaysia and ASEAN remain resilient in facing this global uncertainty.

On energy, we focused on strengthening grid resilience and managing supply-demand pressures, while accelerating regional cooperation through the ASEAN Power Grid. We will continue to prioritise domestic needs and ensure Malaysia and the region remain resilient amid global uncertainty.
