MONGOLIA ELECTED AS MEMBER OF THE UN STATISTICS COMMISSION

At the meeting of the Management Segment of the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council held on April 8, 2026, Mongolia was elected to serve as a member of the UN Statistics Commission for the period 2027-2030.

Our country has been elected as a member of this commission for the second time, providing another opportunity to actively contribute to the process of defining international statistical policies, standards, and methodological developments.

The UN Statistics Commission is the highest-level international body for decision-making in the statistical sector and plays a crucial role in strengthening the statistical systems of member states, approving international standards, classifications, and methodologies, and ensuring their implementation.

During its term as a member, Mongolia aims to actively participate in the activities of the UN Statistics Commission, monitor the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, improve the accessibility and quality of numerical data, develop data governance in official statistical operations, and make tangible contributions in areas such as utilizing non-traditional data sources and artificial intelligence.
