I had a conversation with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this evening. I appreciate his greetings to the families and people of Malaysia on the occasion of the upcoming Eidulfitri Mubarak celebration. Our discussion focused on the latest developments in West Asia that are increasingly deteriorating, especially during the month of Ramadan, which should be a time of peace and tranquility.
I shared Malaysia’s firm and consistent stance in condemning the bombing and massacre by Israel against Iran, backed by the United States.
We agreed to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and to join forces in upholding the voices of peace, diplomacy, and healthy dialogue.
We also agreed that Malaysia and India must stand shoulder to shoulder in strengthening our collective voice on all international platforms, including the United Nations (UN) and BRICS. As a result, this solid cooperation becomes even more urgent as the world is shrouded in a gloomy global economic atmosphere, including impacts on food security aspects. Insya-Allah, Malaysia and India will continue to strengthen our shared commitment for global peace.
