UK’s King Charles III has praised Oman’s “noble efforts” to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz during a Windsor Castle banquet welcoming Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, marking the first state visit by an Omani ruler to the UK in nearly half a century.

– Charles said Muscat’s peacemaking efforts and “constructive neutrality” in the Gulf region mattered far beyond Hormuz and were worthy of utmost respect.

– “I would especially like to recognise, at a time when conflict has returned so painfully to the region, Oman’s enduring commitment as a trusted interlocutor to all parties,” Charles told around 160 guests.

– Oman, a key UK military ally, acted as a mediator in talks between the United States and Iran after the conflict flared in late February.

– The Omani sultan was expected to hold talks with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Wednesday and sign an agreement boosting two-way investment between the two countries.
