French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Kuwait on Monday for talks with officials in the Gulf nation, the Kuwaiti state news agency KUNA reported Sunday.
– Macron, accompanied by an official delegation, will hold official talks with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during his trip, according to the agency.
– The visit comes as Kuwait and France mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
– It will be Macron’s first visit to Kuwait as president and the first by a French leader since Nicolas Sarkozy visited the country in February 2009.
– The upcoming trip follows Sheikh Meshal’s visit to France in July 2025, when he held talks with Macron and invited the French president to visit Kuwait in 2026 to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
– During the Paris talks, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in several areas, including defense, investment, energy and culture.
