Information note on the participation of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the MED9 Summit in Split, Croatia
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in the proceedings of the MED9 Summit, in Split, Croatia.
In his statements in plenary, the Prime Minister reiterated that Europe must respond to the current situation and seek ways to support citizens and businesses against increased energy prices that increase inflationary pressures, always within the context of maintaining fiscal stability and sustainability.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that this is linked to preserving the EU’s competitiveness, further pointing out that developments demonstrate the importance of taking European initiatives to ensure refining capacity in the EU.
The Prime Minister also discussed the negotiations for the next Multiannual Financial Framework, noting that the new EU budget must be proportionate and in line with its ambitions.
Regarding migration, Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed the European Commission’s positive stance towards the Greek proposal for the creation of a European emergency mechanism in cases of increased flows or instrumentalization of migration and the emergence of hybrid threats.
