On Friday, October 2, the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, met at the African Union headquarters with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Dr. Roger Kamba, and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Noëlla Ayeganagato.

This high-level exchange made it possible to review bilateral cooperation, the security crisis in the east of the country, and the government’s health strategy for responding to the Ebola epidemic.

At the end of the audience, the French minister praised the excellence of relations between Kinshasa and Paris: “This audience was an opportunity to reflect on the close, longstanding, and extensive relations that unite the DRC and France. Our two peoples maintain very vibrant and very important relations.”

The head of French diplomacy, Jean-Noël Barrot, will travel to Bunia to support the response to the Ebola epidemic and to put into action on the ground France’s commitments under the protocol signed with the Democratic Republic of Congo on combating impunity and providing redress for conflict-related sexual violence.
