Qatari mediators will take fresh proposals to Washington on meeting Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said late on Monday.
– He added that a final US response could come on Tuesday.
– “They had ideas, and we discussed how a way could be found to meet Iran’s conditions and how those conditions could be fulfilled,” Araghchi said, according to the official IRNA news agency.
Hormuz uncertainty drives US bond yields to near two-decade highs
– US bond yields climbed to their highest levels in roughly two decades, pushing US stocks further below their record high as uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz unsettled markets.
– The rise followed fresh swings in oil prices as investors weighed when tankers might regain free passage through the waterway, a key route for Middle Eastern oil exports.
– US President Donald Trump said over the weekend that he had rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the strait and resume nuclear talks.
