The Syrian president has condemned Israel’s attacks on his country saying that “there have been 500 air strikes, more than 1,200 incursions, and 300 detentions”.
– “This is at odds with the orientation we’re seeing at global level. It is reminiscent of an era that we thought was long gone,” al-Sharaa said.
– He called for the withdrawal of Israel and commitment to the 1974 agreement, saying “we reject Israeli attempts to impose a fait accompli. We reject their aggressions which undermines peace and security.”
– “The opportunity for peace and security is available to those who wish to live in peace, in just peace that maintains the rights of all.”
‘Golan will remain Syrian territory’: Syrian President al-Sharaa
– Al-Sharaa has said that any attempts to violate Syria’s sovereignty and international law “will be stopped”.
– He added, “Golan will remain Syrian territory,” and that any attempts to violate that will be “thwarted”, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 497.
– He thanked all who abided by international law and “those who refrained from reinterpreting Resolution 497”.
– Israel occupied the Golan Heights during the 1967 Six-Day War and annexed the territory in 1981.
