Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of implementing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement during a meeting with the United States CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
– El-Sisi, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, said that Egypt’s position is that it’s time for the next step of “consolidating the ceasefire, protecting civilians, and ensuring adequate and unfettered access of humanitarian aid into the Strip.”
– Egypt played a central role during the ceasefire negotiations that led to the Gaza ceasefire agreement in October 2025.
– The CIA and the Egyptian General Intelligence Service cooperate on a number of issues, including security, intelligence, counterterrorism, organised and transnational crimes.
