The OIC Hosts a Humanitarian Briefing by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for Member States

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), through its Humanitarian Affairs Department, hosted a virtual briefing by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, for OIC Member States and their representatives. The briefing was held within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the OIC and OCHA to enhance humanitarian coordination, information sharing, and capacity building.
On this occasion, Dr. Aisha Al-Ayafi, Director of Humanitarian Affairs at the OIC General Secretariat, delivered opening remarks, followed by a presentation by Mr. Mohammed Khater, OCHA Representative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the 2026 Global Humanitarian Report. Mr. Hamada Al-Bayari, from the OCHA Humanitarian Response Team in Gaza and Palestine, also briefed participants on the latest humanitarian developments in Gaza.
The briefings provided an overview of global humanitarian needs and funding requirements, as well as the humanitarian situation in Gaza, including the challenges of accessing and delivering humanitarian aid and the need for sustained international support.
