With the support of more than forty countries from around the world, Syria spoke clearly and responsibly before the United Nations Security Council, rejecting the violation of its sovereignty and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s entry into Syrian territory, while reaffirming its commitment to the country’s unity, independent decision-making and territorial integrity.
We deeply appreciate the swift international response in support of the Syrian Arab Republic in the face of continued Israeli violations, and welcome this broad international consensus, which reaffirms that respect for the independence and territorial integrity of states is a fundamental principle of the international order.
Syria will continue to pursue a responsible approach, guided by international law and the United Nations Charter, and will continue to defend its national rights through all legitimate political and diplomatic means.
Syria’s security, stability and territorial integrity are a shared interest of both the Syrian people and the international community. With this in mind, we will continue working to consolidate stability and strengthen respect for international law.
