The Iraqi government condemns the attacks that targeted the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and affirms its rejection of any aggression that harms the Kingdom’s security and stability, or prejudices the longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries.
The Iraqi government also appreciates the Kingdom’s position and response to the efforts exerted by Iraq to contain the situation, which reflects its concern for Iraq’s security and stability, and for continuing the path of fraternal relations and cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
In this context, the Prime Minister, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ali Falih Al-Zaydi, has directed the opening of an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the parties behind them, and the taking of legal measures against anyone proven to be involved, emphasizing that the state will not tolerate any activity that exposes Iraq or its relations with brotherly and friendly countries to danger.
The Iraqi government affirms that it will continue to work with brothers and friends to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, to entrench respect for the law and the principles of good neighborliness, and in a manner that protects Iraq’s interests and enhances its positive role in its regional environment.
Iraq renews its affirmation that its territories and airspace will not be a launching point for aggression against any country, and that its policy is based on respect for the sovereignty of states, rejection of aggression against them, and working to make its relations with its regional neighbors a bridge for cooperation and stability, not a arena for tension and conflict.
