Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a phone call with his Japanese counterpart, said the current “tense situation” in the region is due to the US’s “regrettable” violation of the Memorandum of Understanding, Fars news agency reports.
– “The solution is simple; the return and adherence of the American side to its commitments and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will pave the way for a return to normalcy.”
– Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi reportedly expressed concern about the escalation in the region and emphasised the need for “continued diplomatic consultation and coordination” between countries to establish peace and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
